Los Nevados is a beautiful village, set deep in the Andes and separated from Mérida by the highest mountain in Venezuela, Pico Toro (4755m), Pico Leon (4740), Pico Bolivar (5007m). Access is by foot, by horse, by 4 wheels drive vehicle along an 'exciting' mountain road and by cable car (but check first if it’s open). Los Nevados is located at 2750m in the National Park of Sierra Nevada and the temperatures are between 8 and 15º. It’s important to bring a high sun protection and a polar jacket.
Enjoy the silence, the tranquility of the Andean life and the view on a mosaic of crops (potatoes, wheat, black beans…) on terraces carved on the side of the mountains.
Jorge and Zoraida are your hosts and will make you feel most welcome with their warm service and typical Andean meals.
The Posada Guamanchi Los Nevados is a relaxing start or end for a mountain expedition. Ask for the mules services.
